Rickey Henderson, eat your heart out: It’s Sophie Kurys, of the South Bend Blue Sox, who holds the record for the most stolen bases in one season in any league (201 steals in 203 attempts in 1946). This extensive touring exhibit makes its way to the Louisville Slugger Museum to teach baseball fans and history buffs about women’s role in the national pastime with photographs, game programs, postcards and newspaper articles. www.sluggermuseum.org

Tanglewood Farm’s 10-acre Wild West town—home to more than 100 miniature farm animals—turns the “awww” factor all the way up every January, when it features its littlest inhabitants. The Rivalry

The historic Ford’s Theatre, one of the most visited attractions in the nation’s capital, continues its slate of excellent performances with a play by Norman Corwin, which The New York Times called “evocative, inspiring and stirring theatre” when it premiered 51 years ago. The show focuses on the Lincoln-Douglas Debates of 1858, and includes the perspective of Douglas’ wife, Adele, who reexamines her own concepts of freedom. New Pickle Circus

American and Russian circus traditions meet Chinese acrobatics in this perennial favorite at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. “Playing with Pictures: The Art of Victorian Photocollage”

NEW YORK CITY

While photo collages are usually thought of as a 20th-century phenomenon, aristocratic Victorian women were creating whimsical compositions with photographs and watercolors—pasting human heads onto animal bodies or inanimate objects, planting people into imaginary landscapes—as early as the 1850s. This exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art features approximately 55 of their fantastical creations. www.metmuseum.org

Innovative Motion

The intimate Pabst Theater plays host to three abstract works performed by the Milwaukee Ballet. Florida Four Tournament
