EVENTS
Flight Plans
The EAA AirVenture Oshkosh welcomes the jet set with a spectacular aviation celebration.
Whether you’re a dedicated plane enthusiast looking for a new part for your own craft, a history buff with in-depth knowledge of the early days of airline travel, or someone who enjoys watching the turns and dives of daring pilots, “The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration” is sure to thrill.
Representatives from NASA and the military—as well as jet manufacturers, pilot-training companies and gadget makers—are on hand to celebrate all things flight-related (and not-flight-related: take the Doobie Brothers’ concert on July 27, for instance).
Among the impressive aircraft on hand will be the gargantuan Airbus A380, making its first up-close appearance to the North American public.
More than 500,000 attend the event every year, and for most, the highlights are the air shows, which occur every day and feature the world’s finest aerobatic performers. Local favorites include the Warbirds of America as well as specialty military aircraft like a Marine Corps Harrier.
If things with wings send your spirits soaring, this is one event you won’t want to miss.
